Born To Run: Book Review
16. Born To Run by Chris McDougall
This is an excellent book that I really enjoyed reading, and I just finished it today. Even if you are not that interested in running I think you will be captivated by this book. It focuses on ultrarunning and a tribe of Mexican/Indians called the Tarahumara. They are a running tribe, deep in the Copper Canyons. Using only sandals and other homemade meals they run like crazy. This book debunks many popular running ideas like the most expensive shoes are the best to buy, the shoes with the most cushion are the best for you, and some others. One of the coolest parts of the book is when he discusses "persistence hunting" the art of running your prey to death. This has been documented in Africa, and pretty much how it works is how it sounds. You consistently keep your prey say an Antelope on the run until it can't keep up anymore and dies.
I would recommend this book. It's a good one.
